Maplewood, village life right outside the city
Maplewood combines the charm of village life with the convenience of living just half an hour from midtown Manhattan and is a thriving commuter neighborhood. The town is often called “Brooklyn West,” which many NYC transplants see as an extension of the hip, cultured, community-involved lifestyle they had grown accustomed to in New York. Properties tend to be a bit smaller in Maplewood, which many of those living there are convinced lends itself to the tight-knit feel.
Maplewood is know for its diverse and welcoming community, a mix of artists, writers, bankers, lawyers, teachers, musicians, and chefs. The village, along Maplewood Avenue, boasts a vibrant collection of restaurants, bistros, coffee houses, shops and a movie theater.
