Da Pepo

54 Fairfield Street, Montclair

Da Pepo is a tiny place, adjacent to Montclair’s much loved Watchung Booksellers. It’s clearly destined to be loved in its own right.

There are only 19 seats in total, and they don’t take reservations, so make sure you go early, and come prepared to wait for a table. The chef serves dishes like traditional spaghettoni carbonara; rich meatballs with whipped ricotta in thick red sauce; lancia e scudo, asparagus wrapped in mozzarella and prosciutto, breaded and fried; and panini.

Montclair Social Club

499 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair

Anyone who has been to downtown Montclair has seen the huge empty space that used to be Rascals Comedy Club. The space, in the center of the business district had sat empty for over a decade. Now it has been completely transformed into the spectacular Montclair Social Club. The club has a stylish vibe and decor, a wonderful bar, and live music. The menu is creative and appealing. There is valet parking and they do take reservations.
